About Cup2toGram

Cup2toGram exists for one reason: recipes are written in cups in one part of the world and in grams in the other, and converting between them is harder than it looks. A cup of flour and a cup of sugar don’t weigh the same, so a single “cups to grams” number is never right.

Where our numbers come from

Every ingredient on the site has its own weight per cup. We start from published reference weights used by professional bakers and food databases, such as the King Arthur Baking ingredient weight chart and USDA FoodData Central, and note the source on each ingredient page.

All weights assume a standard US cup (236.6 ml). Dry ingredients like flour are spooned into the cup and leveled; brown sugar is packed. You can switch to a metric, US legal or UK cup in any converter.
